Installation
The Yank Widget WordPress plugin requires WordPress 2.5 or higher. Although Yank Widget seems to perform well on low traffic websites, be aware that this plugin can increase the amount of database traffic. To increase performance you should look at WordPress caching plugins.
- Take the yank-widget folder and put it in the wp-content/plugins/ directory of your Web site.
- Activate the plugin on the Wordpress plugin administration panel.
Using Yank Widget
Go to the Design > Widgets panel and add a Yank Widget to a sidebar.
If you edit the placed Yank Widget under Design > Widgets in the WordPress Dashboard, you will see the CSS class and id names used on your website. This can help using css to make Yank Widget areas display in unique ways.
You can also modify the title options so your Yank Widget can use a specific title or hide the title completely. Make sure the Title field is completely blank if you want to use the Page title from the Yank Widget content instead.
Create a page you intend to display in a sidebar. Remember, most sidebar areas are small, so limit and format your pages appropriately. Remember, you may have to make CSS modifications to your theme help Yank Widget display page content nicely. On this page you should see an example of a page displayed using Yank Widget ( you guess ).
Edit a page or post where you want your recently created sidebar page content to appear and look for the Yank Widget settings below the Advanced Options area.
You can select any page content for a particular Yank Widget. The drop down lists indicate the current page as [current], page used in the current widget as [selected], and pages marked hidden as [hidden]. The drop down list also has an option to remove the currently selected content from that Yank Widget.
You can also use a separate drop down list to select if you want Yank Widget to hide that page from common menus and page lists. Setting this to default will keep the current Yank Widget settings unchanged.
You must save your page or post and view it to see the results.
Yank Widget Options
The Yank Widget Options under Settings > Yank Widget allow you to manually change the hidden pages list and to remove the database tables and settings for Yank Widget.
